Abstract

The article focuses on identifying and researching the characteristic features of the development of new English novel of the 20th century using the example of John Fowles's novel «The French Lieutenant's Woman». This postmodern novel by John Fowles is a key work of the second half of the 20th century, so it is a favorable material for this research.
