Cats occupy a significant place among household dependents. Not all cat owners pay attention to the health of their dependents, are engaged in the prevention of their diseases, vaccinations, and provide a full-fledged balanced diet. That is why cats get sick, and in recent years, among the appeals to veterinary hospitals, it is the appeals of cat owners that are most often recorded. The article provides data on the analysis of appeals from cat owners to the “ZooVetCenter” veterinary clinic located in the city of Dnipro. The most frequent pathologies and risk factors for their formation in cats are identified, and the practices of therapy used by the clinic's doctors are given. The works of scientists studying the psychological aspect of choosing pets, signs of diseases in cats, principles of diagnosis and therapy were studied, paying special attention to diseases of the genitourinary system, gastrointestinal tract, skin and wool, teeth, allergic reactions as diseases that were often diagnosed in cats (according to the software complex “Enote”, which is used in the “ZooVetCenter” clinic).
The purpose of the work was to perform an analysis of the reasons for cat owner visits to the clinic, to find out the diagnoses, methods of therapy and prevention of diseases. The task consisted in the separation of individual cases of treatment, the distribution of diseases according to separate systems, types of diseases, the collection of information about the treatment carried out and the medical drugs used, the proposed measures for the prevention of an already existing disease and the prevention of other pathologies in domestic cats. During the research, data from laboratory examinations of animals, ultrasound diagnostics, instrumental diagnostic methods, and visual inspection were used.
