Abstract

The article examines the role of innovations in the operational activities of enterprises as a key factor in enhancing efficiency and competitiveness under conditions of global instability and structural economic transformation. The relevance of the study is determined by the low level of innovation activity of domestic enterprises, limited resources, disruptions in production and supply chains, and the need to adapt to the requirements of the digital economy and European markets. The purpose of the research is to substantiate the theoretical foundations and develop a methodological approach to assessing innovations in operational activities from the perspective of their economic efficiency. The research employs methods of analysis and synthesis, a systems approach, comparative analysis, generalization of scientific concepts, and economic and statistical methods for evaluating innovation performance. Scientific approaches to the interpretation of innovations in operational activities are generalized, defining them as purposeful changes in technological, organizational, and process solutions aimed at optimizing resource use and creating added value. A logical sequence for evaluating innovative ideas is proposed, combining stages of preliminary selection, economic justification, and comparison of enterprise innovation activity levels. The study demonstrates that innovation in operational processes has a significant impact on productivity growth, cost reduction, and enterprise resilience in a volatile environment. It is substantiated that the application of a systematic methodology for assessing the economic efficiency of innovations enhances the quality of managerial decision-making and contributes to sustainable enterprise development. The results of the study confirm the necessity of a comprehensive approach to managing innovations in operational activities, particularly in conditions of post-crisis recovery and digital transformation. The findings can be used in developing innovation strategies, improving operational management practices, and forming evidence-based decisions aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of enterprises in the national economy.
